In today’s
world of Occupational, Health and Safety, the use of mechanical aids to improve
the way we can operate efficiently and safely in the outdoors is important
decision. There are many products on the market to assist Emergency Service
Responders through to Mining and Construction and Surveillance and Monitoring.
Several
innovative products have been developed by Fireco Components SRL, based in
The
range of telescopic Masts starts
with the Lightweight range of manual or pneumatic (air operated) masts. These
masts include the Star, Entry, Super Entry, Primo, Super Primo and Maxi Primo
masts ranging from 66mm to 101mm diameter and to a height of 20m. These masts
can be fitted with internal wiring, locking collars and sand scraper rings
The second range of masts is the Partner range
of masts. These masts include the Zero, Ultralight, Light, Standard, Heavy,
Super, and the new Giant masts. Typically these masts offer increase head loads
and can be keyed to prevent mast rotation. The Partner mast offer a greater
range of wiring combinations including coax cables and range from 66mm to 250mm
diameter and to a height of 40m.
In
the case when you need to operate the mast for extended periods, typically when
used for radio, broadcast or surveillance applications, we would recommend the
Steady masts. These masts are similar to the Partner range but are fitted with
locking collars to keep the mast fully extended, even when a loss of air
pressure occurs.
Masts
are typically mounted to vehicles or trailers for lighting, Communications, broadcasting,
surveillance and even aerial photograph, using external fixing brackets, or can
be mounted through the vehicle body if space permits. The most common
application on Emergency Vehicles is
to provide a light mast or light tower by installing fixed lights or adjustable
lights using tilt and turn units which are remote controlled from ground level.
Masts
are also used to mount cameras, antennas, meteorology and telemetry equipment.
These pump up masts are typically used by Police, Fire, State Emergency and
Rescue Services (SES), Mining, Construction, Security, Radio, Television &
News services, Aerial inspection and photography, Science agencies,
Masts
are also used stand alone in the field using tripod and guy rope systems. Fireco strongly recommend any mast
exceeding 7m should be secured using guy ropes attached to the special guy
collar on the mast to suitable pickets driven into the ground.
If
space is not available to mount a telescopic mast, then a Roof Mast can be installed. These types of masts store flat and
when operated will rotate 90 degrees and then extend.
The
masts can be extended by hand or pneumatically raised rated via a hand operated
pump, 12V, 24V or 240V air compressor or from the vehicles air system.
240V
lights are available in Halogen, Metal Halide, and High pressure sodium. Low
voltage lights (12 & 24V) are available in Xenon HID, LED, Xenoplot, Metal
Halide and High pressure sodium.
A
recent development is the Aqua mast which is a telescopic water way which
allows a water monitor to operate up to 13m above ground level. The aqua mast
is raised by air pressure and the heavy duty water way allows flow rates up to
1300 LPM.
The
masts are constructed high quality, light weight aluminium, with a hard wearing
and corrosion resistant anodised finish. The gaskets and seals are manufactured
from a special compound that can withstand temperatures between -30 and +60
degrees.
Ultra
High Pressure Fire Fighting pumps have also been developed by Fireco. Petrol or
Diesel engines drive compact pumps conserving water usage while providing fine
water droplets for rapid knockdown of a fire with minimal water damage.
Lightweight hoses reduce the fatigue of the fire fighter while the induction of
foam provides extended capability. These units can be permanently mounted in a
vehicle or on a removable slip on frame for utility vehicles.
